Firearm Cerakote

Protect. Personalize. Perform.

THE GOLD STANDARD

What is Cerakote?

Cerakote is a polymer-ceramic coating that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers, and wood. Developed for the firearms industry, it has become the gold standard for protective firearm finishes worldwide.

Unlike traditional bluing or parkerizing that wears over time, Cerakote is oven-cured to create a permanent chemical bond with the substrate — delivering unmatched protection against corrosion, abrasion, chemicals, and UV exposure.

Performance Benefits

  • Corrosion resistance — exceeds mil-spec salt spray testing
  • Chemical resistance — solvents, oils, and cleaning agents
  • Pencil hardness above 9H — harder than most factory finishes
  • Heat tolerance up to 1,200°F (some formulations)
  • Self-lubricating — reduced friction between moving parts

Frequently
asked
questions

How durable is Cerakote?
Cerakote is one of the most durable firearm finishes available. It exceeds mil-spec salt spray testing for corrosion resistance, rates above 9H pencil hardness, and resists abrasion, chemicals, and UV exposure. It significantly outperforms traditional bluing, parkerizing, and most spray-on coatings in independent testing.
How long does the process take?
Most single-color Cerakote projects are completed within 1–2 weeks. Multi-color, camouflage, and custom design work may take 2–3 weeks depending on complexity and current shop volume. We'll give you an honest timeline estimate at drop-off.
Can you Cerakote any firearm?
Yes — Cerakote can be applied to virtually any firearm, from handguns and shotguns to rifles and AR platforms. It adheres to steel, aluminum, titanium, and polymer. We can coat complete firearms or individual components like slides, frames, handguards, and barrels.
How much does Cerakote cost?
Pricing depends on the number of colors, complexity of the pattern, and parts being coated. Single-color slides start at competitive rates. Contact us or drop by for a free quote — we'll walk through options and pricing with no obligation.
Will Cerakote affect my firearm's function?
No. Cerakote is applied in ultra-thin layers (roughly 1 mil / 25 microns) that do not affect tolerances or function. In fact, the self-lubricating properties of Cerakote can actually improve action smoothness and reduce friction between moving parts.
What's the difference between Cerakote and DuraCoat?
Cerakote is a polymer-ceramic coating that is oven-cured, resulting in superior hardness, chemical resistance, and heat tolerance. DuraCoat is an air-dry coating that's easier to apply at home but doesn't match Cerakote's durability in independent testing. For professional, long-lasting results, Cerakote is the industry standard.
